Founded in 1921, the Fall River Historical Society has a long, rich tradition of preserving and interpreting artifacts pertaining to area history. Emphasizing 19th-century decorative arts, the Society's collection covers a range of interesting topics, including various mourning practices, antique steamships, and a changing exhibit dedicated different clothing from throughout the centuries. It occupies an 1843 Greek Revival granite mansion just north of downtown, near Charlton Memorial Hospital.
